The Lightcatcher: "The Eye Within"

“The Eye Within” Create your own exhibition. Dicover and write your own Myth, learn the ritual as a language through the capture of light.

The purpose of this 6 weeks course is to:

1. Understand and use the art of photography to heal yourself in front your environment.

2. Recognize and give a tangible shape to your formative years (0-10 years old) through the capture of light.

3. Enter the maze of self-knowledge developing a communication with your 5 senses through the art of photography + ritual.

Curriculum

For this workshop, it is not necessary to have a professional camera or be a photographer. THIS WORKSHOP ALSO WILL BE AVAILABLE ONSITE for Texas residents at the Austin, Texas area.

What you will need is courage and determination to take any camera at a time of stress, anxiety, sadness, anger, joy, happiness, laughter and catch the light.

A step in Initiation to develop the Eye Within.

At the end of the course you will have learned to:

1. Put together your own narrative, creating a set of tangible healing rituals through photography.

2. Use the light as a way to communicate your inner thoughts putting order in the chaos of ideas.

3. Learn basic photography abilities to establish a relationship with yourself and surroundings.

*This is Not a course in which you will:

Discover the differences in modern cameras, and hear a recommendation for which one you should buy.

Learn how to make great photos that are worthy of submission to any local photography contest.

Get deep about technical aspects of camera lenses, exposure, composition, color, lighting etc.

Understand digital and traditional photographic techniques.

Jessica Arroyo

Home is Austin, Texas, where she has lived with her husband and daughter since 2014. She grew up in Juárez, Chihuahua, México, where she also studied electronic media, photography, and theater arts. It was then that she fell in love with still photography, and she has been taking photos professionally for 11 years now. She specializes in portraits, capturing intimate and vulnerable moments in people’s lives. She loves working with passionate people who are not afraid to take risks, who celebrate themselves, and who value art and its larger impact on oneself. She is forever inspired by the love she gets to witness through her lens, by the beauty of nature, and by her subjects’ trust in her work. Currently she is a facilitator of plant medicine circles: Ayahuasca, Cacao, Kambo. She offers the course Lightcatcher: The eye within at the School of Shamanic Initiation Teachings. She enjoys sharing ancient Initiation traditions, the practice of ancestral medicine legacy taught by her grandmother through the art of photography.
